Double Hug Prayer Shawl

This pattern comes from The Crocheted Prayer Shawl Companion 37 Patterns to Embrace Inspire and Celebrate Life. I had made this one for a previous ministry and found the "granny" style relaxing and easy to work with while watching television.

For my notes this version was made with Red Heart Super Saver Amethyst and a K hook.

This is the fourth shawl I've finished so far. I'm currently struggling with adapting a thread baby doll pattern but I hope to find a happy balance between the donations.

Lacework Prayer Shawl

This pattern comes from Leisure Arts The Prayer Shawl Ministry Volume 2. I ordered Homespun Lagoon for this and made it with the suggested K hook.

I've now completed three shawls. I'm hoping to get some doll clothes completed for the doll donation as well.

Glitter Girl Seed Stitch Blanket

The doll blankets are usually my travel projects. I usually don't worry about the larger dolls getting blankets as I'm very fortunate to have donors who make doll blankets every year for the donation far more beautiful and creative than anything I make. However, I do try to make sure the smaller dolls that require different sized blankets get one. The Glitter Girl requires a smaller blanket. This blanket is an adaptation of Michelle Crean's larger seed stitch blanket I've been making as my travel project for the larger dolls. You can find the pattern here.

Notes: I used a starting chain of 40 for the smaller doll and worsted weight 4 baby yarn.

Five Point Diamond Prayer Shawl

This was the first shawl I started making as I had a supply of Caron Simply Soft Yarn in Orchid I wanted to finish off. The pattern can be found in Make in a Weekend Shawls. I've never made this one as a prayer shawl but I loved it when I made it for myself to wear with a dress to a wedding when I needed a little extra warmth. Knowing how much I've loved it over the years I thought it would be a nice prayer shawl.

The reason this wasn't my first prayer shawl was I ran out of Caron and had some weird issues with delayed orders. However, I finally found what I needed and the shawl is completed.

Notes:

I suspect I will be coming back to this shawl as it is a pretty shawl and I have more Caron Simply Soft to finish off.

I used a K hook for this pattern.

I used pins/markers in the beginning rows to keep track of where the rows started and ended. As the shawl increased this became easier to determine but the pins were helpful. I do need to remember to check for them as it took me two tries to find all of them as I was finishing it off.

Rectangular Prayer Shawl Stole

I've started making prayer shawls again for a Church I'm attending. It's been a bit and I had to find where I'd stored all the leaflets and books and then it was time to think about yarn for the projects.

A few years back I donated all my Homespun yarn because I was and still am determined to decrease my stash yarn to items I will use. I am trying to do this mostly through using it for the doll project but when someone has a better use for it than I, passing it on seems like a wonderful solution to my problem of having yarn I don't need.

However, now that I'm back to making prayer shawls I'm exploring yarn I don't normally use in my doll project.

This first shawl is the Crochet Rectangular Stole from Liesure Arts The Prayer Shawl Ministry #4225 and I substituted Lion Brand's Premier Puzzle Yarn Backgammon for Homespun as it was available locally without having to order Homespun online. The pattern calls for a K hook, I used an M hook to obtain gauage.
