Crafting is fun for all ages and interests. This blog evolved from researching resources for friends and articles I write as a freelance writer. It is a place to share the information I discovered. Please feel free to leave comments and questions. I am always looking at new projects ideas for family and friends in areas of my own abilities and theirs. Bert the Triceratops
While I speak mostly about the little girls I make presents for a couple of years ago a family member had a little boy who had a dinosaur baby theme. I made a blanket and some dinos. I always had the intention of getting back to making more dinos but life has a way of mocking you. So this Christmas after finishing off the girls stuff I got to working on the dinosaurs.
If you are ever stuck and need a quick dino crochet pattern Bizzy Crochet's Bert pattern is for you. You can find the free pattern here.
Bert was another great stash busting project. This was a lighter yarn I'd bought for a teddy bear project a while back and hadn't had a use for it since. Bert was a quick day project and using the lighter yarn and f hook he was a nice small size compared to many of the dino pattern that are huge and can make storage of the animals more challenging. This is also more in line with play size which is also a plus.
After finishing this around December 10th I immediately began work on a reindeer ornament and a T-Rex. The T-Rex is larger but using lighter yarn smaller than the pattern suggested. The reindeer is using the same yarn as Bert. I'm hoping to finish off that skein and see it gone with this project.

Triceratops Revisited
I have stayed focused on completing my projects. The dinosaurs are coming along and I have only the final additions on the last of my farm animals to complete. Then I have to move to Thanksgiving projects before the holiday gets away from me. I ordered some sock and sport yarn to experiment with the Barbie Pilgrim dress and some other holiday projects.
I love this set of dinosaurs. The pattern is called Dinosaurs and available from Gourmet Crochet. The only pattern I really have not mastered is the pterodactyl. At some point, I need to figure out how to attach the wings to the figure according to the pattern. Other than that, the other amigurumi directions have been easy to follow.
This guy has already been passed on for his trip to his future owner. I hope he enjoys many hours of adventures.
This is a set I suspect I will be visiting again.

Triceratops Amigurumi
This was the project I was least interested in starting and most pleased with when it was finished. The picture seemed awkward when I viewed the cover. However, as I began working on the project, seeing him in a squatted position seemed to work. This project was one of the most enjoyable because I had such a low anticipation of the outcome.
The triceratops was one of the easiest of the patterns to create. The most challenging part was getting the back legs positioned correctly. I have learned to pin all the legs prior to sewing anything to an animal.
One of the goals I presented myself with at the start of this project was not to buy any yarn to finish it. It has been fun digging through yarn stashes to find matches. I wanted fun colors and was not concerned about following the pattern color suggestions in all cases. This is working out.
For those seeking the pattern book it can be found at Gourment Crochet's, Amigurumi's Dinosaurs.

Knit and Crochet Toy Patterns Free
Knit and crochet toys are wonderful gifts for children. Patterns are available for a wide variety of toys. You will find doll and teddy bear resources listed on other pages.
The toy page has outgrown the ability to stay on one page so I am continuing to move items into new categories. I will add the links to new pages so people can find the free patterns they are seeking. Animals that are not from TV or Movies have moved to their own page. The links are below.
