Crafting is fun for all ages and interests. This blog evolved from researching resources for friends and articles I write as a freelance writer. It is a place to share the information I discovered. Please feel free to leave comments and questions. I am always looking at new projects ideas for family and friends in areas of my own abilities and theirs. Crochet Chocolate Kiss
My Husband's office is decorated with little ami's especially for the various holidays. I was trying to come up with something cute for Valentine's Day. The Candy Corn with sneakers was a big hit. I didn't have the time to make him a Kiss last year when I completed the My Silly Valentine's patterns from Crochet Village for my Valentine's box. This year I squeezed in a kiss project between the doll's clothes.
As you can see from the one I made last year posted here, I didn't go with the traditional colors last year either. I like the way Hershey's has holiday colors for their candy and I made a red Kiss last year. This time I had a request for specific colors so I went with the blue and yellow. The red ties on the sneaker bringing it back to Valentine's Day. This is a fun quick Valentine's project if you are looking to purchase a set of patterns to work on this year.
I am alternating between doll projects and Easter projects, as that box needs to go out at the beginning of March. It will take a while to get those projects done. However, thanks to my husband and some great friends on Crochetville I have some adorable patterns to work on for my Easter box.

American Girl Overalls
This set was created using Maggie's Crochet Megan and Max pattern. It had been on my list of patterns to purchase for a while and this Christmas it appeared under my tree. The overalls require a bulky weight, which is acquired in the pattern directions by mixing weights. I have never enjoyed crocheting with two yarns, so I experimented with a 5 weight Bucillica Alpaca and found it worked. It did give me a new appreciation for acrylic and cotton yarn as I ended up with wool splinters under my nails. I was working on this project at the same time I was working on a thread dress pattern and found the wool to be quite abrasive after the thread. I was also reminded about the weight difference as I went from thread to the heavier yarn.
I was introduced to sewable Velcro for this project. I had heard about it, but never located any until recently. While easier to sew than the stickable Velcro it still has its moments. I can see where it would be useful for little hands that find tight buttons and snaps challenging to use when dressing dolls. For certain projects buttons and snaps just don't quite fit, so I suspect I will find a use for it again.
I'm continuing to work on doll clothes and holiday ami's so Max the dog, his house, and accessories will have to wait. However, I do plan to finish them before the donation is due. I like the patterns that have more than just the clothes for the kids to play with to donate.

American Girl Doctor
Along with historical outfits there is no reason why the dolls should not have professional outfits, too. This pattern was also a Christmas gift. It is called Just Like My Hero Doctor and available for purchase here. The pattern worked up quickly using worsted weight yarn.
I have promised myself that I would get started on my Easter amigurumi projects at the end of January, as Easter falls in March this year. I thought for sure I would be more than ready to surrender my doll projects. However, I think for the first time it might be hard to stop. I have finally learned how to work with thread and have completed my first thread item that I will be blogging about soon. At the same time, I am working on another new idea, an item using bulky yarn. There are lots of fun new challenges. However, those cute bunnies are also hard to resist. I have some wonderful new patterns I got last year to tempt me away from my dolls at the end of the month.
