Crafting is fun for all ages and interests. This blog evolved from researching resources for friends and articles I write as a freelance writer. It is a place to share the information I discovered. Please feel free to leave comments and questions. I am always looking at new projects ideas for family and friends in areas of my own abilities and theirs. Hugging Hearts
This was the last crochet item I made for the Valentine package. I love these little hearts. The original pattern has a boy and a girl, but since I'm sending the pattern to two sisters I thought they'd each want a girl, thus two girls.
The pattern is part of Crochet Village's My Silly Valentine Pattern CV089 that I wrote about in the Valentine Cookie post. You can purchase the pattern on Etsy here. The pattern set also includes a large sized Hershey Kiss pattern I've made several times.
I was at Dollar Tree picking up greeting cards and came across these little mailboxes and thought they'd be cute to mail the hearts in and I managed to find some heart boxes to put away for next year. I like to have fun boxes to put the toys in when I mail stuff out.
This has been a another great scrap project. I finished off a skein of off white that I've been working on since December. I was quite glad to see it go. The dark pink was from a ball of yarn from last year's doll projects. I am determined to target my left over yarn this year.

Crochet Chocolate Kiss
My Husband's office is decorated with little ami's especially for the various holidays. I was trying to come up with something cute for Valentine's Day. The Candy Corn with sneakers was a big hit. I didn't have the time to make him a Kiss last year when I completed the My Silly Valentine's patterns from Crochet Village for my Valentine's box. This year I squeezed in a kiss project between the doll's clothes.
As you can see from the one I made last year posted here, I didn't go with the traditional colors last year either. I like the way Hershey's has holiday colors for their candy and I made a red Kiss last year. This time I had a request for specific colors so I went with the blue and yellow. The red ties on the sneaker bringing it back to Valentine's Day. This is a fun quick Valentine's project if you are looking to purchase a set of patterns to work on this year.
I am alternating between doll projects and Easter projects, as that box needs to go out at the beginning of March. It will take a while to get those projects done. However, thanks to my husband and some great friends on Crochetville I have some adorable patterns to work on for my Easter box.

Valentine Bear
My Valentine Bear is actually adapted from the Birthday Bear in Jan Hatfield's Crochet Pairs of Bears pattern number 1182. The American School of Needlework published the leaflet in 1993.
As I mentioned yesterday, I have been working on this bear as part of the Valentine's package to mail Friday, unless the snow does not stop. I have given myself until then to finish the package. The mouse finger puppet is almost complete and I think I will call and end to the making Valentine items to ship. I still have a local package to finish.
My husband says this is his favorite of all the ami's I have made yet. I will have to make him a dressed bear for his office. I love the bear pattern. The clothes were a bit more challenging. While we often discuss gauge in crochet, we rarely discuss stuffing. After working on the clothing patterns, I must guess that my bear is better stuffed than Ms. Hatfield's bears. While the pants fit, the shirt was not even close to fitting. I tried three different methods for making a bear shirt before reaching success with the fourth. The bow tie is based on the pattern, but I added a chain so it would be removable. The belt and shirt use snaps. The pattern called for buttons for the shirt. After playing with the pattern and being rushed for time, snaps were a quicker alternative.
The leaflet includes a St. Patrick's Day couple. They would make a great addition to my next package. I am not done with this pattern yet.
