Lil Cutesies Moses Basket 2026

I mentioned earlier in the week that I'd finished off two categoies for donations this week.

The first was the night wear and the second is bassinets. I will not need a bassinet for Kits for Kids as the doll is a bit large for the project so all my bassinets are done until I start the 2027 items. Then again never say never. Every time I say never someone says could you...

I also said I was using up my on hand Homespun yarn. Yet for the Little Cutesie doll I tried a new color I've never used before.

I needed to make a minimum for shipping and decided to add some homespun to the order. When I went to check the site as I was writing this, turns out they no longer have Homespun. It does concern me as rumors are floating about the long term life of Homespun and if Lion Brand will be continuing to produce it as they've cancelled some of its off shoot lines. I would hate to see the yarn go but not suprising in the fiber market these days.

The blanket yarn I believe is Herschnerrs Worsted 4 that I've been trying to finish off.

This is made using a no longer available Moses Basket pattern from Annie Potter presents Sweet Baby Doll Layette. The blanket is part of Darski's BBL pattern set found here.

I went with a g hook with baby yarn for the Lots to Love 8 inch baby doll and it was smaller than I wanted. I used an I with the Herschnerrs Worsted and it was slightly big but I'd rather slightly big than slightly small. I'd suggest an H hook with the heavier yarn and an I with baby yarn next time.

Lots to Love 10 Inch Baby Doll Moses Basket

I set out to make this one for the Lil Cutesies doll but added too many extra rows to make it larger and the Lots to Love 10 inch baby doll now has its bassinet for the 2026 donation complete.

The pattern for the Moses basket comes from an Annie Potter Presents Sweet Baby Doll Layetter Pattern set that I can no longer get an active link to provide. The blanket is from Darski's BBL set found here.

Notes:

The bassinet is made with Premier Puzzle yarn. The blanket with left over baby yarn of unknown orign.

Note to self that the Lots to Love 8 inch doll needs a G hook for the blanket the 10 inch doll requires an I hook or the blanket is small.

I just need one more bassinet for the Lil Cutesies and these will be complete before my summer deadline.

Lots to Love 8 Inch Baby Doll Moses Basket

My goal is to complete all the bassinet/moses basket projects by the end of summer. I have two more to complete and that goal will be achieved.

This basket is made using Annie Potter Presents Sweet Baby Doll Layette. I haven't been able to find an active link for her patterns for a while now so I've stopped trying. Her pattern site pops up and then disappears. It is different from Annie's. The blanket is from Darski's BBL free pattern found here.

Notes:

The basket is made with Premier Puzzle Yarn and the blanket is part of my project to identify yarns that have been here a bit and need to become an actual project, Lion Brand Baby Soft dusty lilac. I like the texture of the yarn but a bit pale if I were thinking of buying it again.

The basket requires a H hook and the blanket a g.

I still have more of this shade of Premier but I found some green that also needs to go for the Lil Cutesie basket. I'm going to be starting it up for my travel bag and even trying to alternate some work on it in between other projects as I really want these done early in August.

Kits for Kids Lots to Love 8 Inch Baby Doll Moses Basket

Still busily preposting in March as my April deadline looms ever closer.

I wanted to include a baby doll in Kits for Kids. Not sure how much I'll be able to finish for the doll or practically what is best to include as the child will be carrying what they need to take with them but for now the doll has a bed and that is good.

This is Annie Potter Presents Sweet Baby Doll Layette for the Moses Basket and Darski's BBL free pattern for the blanket. I have been chasing Annie's Potter's pattern sites for years and I stop now. This is a wonderful pattern set that I rely on for the baby doll beds but I have no idea who has control over her patterns and I won't risk spam sites to try to help people find her patterns any longer. As I pulled another doll from my inventory I decided it was time to consider stocking up and sadly came to realize the last place I could get the Lots to Love 8 inch Baby dolls is no longer selling them. This is disappointing and thankfully as a donation hoarder I am not desparate for a replacement just yet but I do need to find one as these dolls are an ideal size. There are sadly some families these dolls go to that don't have a ton of space and a small baby doll is the right choice.

I had just found an accessory kit that was sized close to them which I hadn't been able to find in years of searching. It will still work for the Lil Cutesies doll and the Lots to Love 10 inch doll which are still available but this size doll is one I need to find a replacement for before my hoarded stash is depleted.

This is made with Premier Puzzle Yarn for the basket and old Red Heart Sport for the blanket. I used an H hook for the basket and a g hook for the blanket. I still need 2 more of these for the Lots to Love 8 inch dolls, one for the Lil Cutesies doll, and one for the Lots to Love 10 inch baby doll.

Lots to Love 10 Inch Baby Doll Moses Basket

I love when I finish off a specific project type for a donation year. With this moses basket for the Lots to Love 10 Inch Baby Doll all the small doll carriers are finished.

I don't make them for the larger dolls anymore as the multiple yarn strands are too hard on my hands. I wait for the sales and pick up carriers for the Lots to Love 14 Inch Doll and the 2 JC 16 inch Dolls.

The Moses Basket is from Annie Potter's Sweet Baby Layette Leaflet. I don't have a link I'm comfortable with at the moment for her website so as I mentioned on the Lil Cutesies notes I leave you with the pattern title and if you are interested it's a starting point to search for it.

The blanket is the standard pattern I use for this rather than the one that comes with the set. I just have found it fits better. It is from Darski's free BBL pattern found here.

The basket is made using Premier Puzzle Yarn in Maze and an I hook. I alternated the fp and bp for more of a "basket" look this time but I think I'd go back to fp in fp and bp in bp next time. It just seemed to work better.

When I can get shipping deals I try to pick up different baby yarns from companies as I like different colors and brands that are available. I just dread the high cost of shipping. I believe the blanket yarn is from Mary Maxim as I stocked up last year when I had a coupon.

I used an I hook with this yarn. I go back and forth on the size of the hook. With the larger doll the larger hook seemed like a good choice to get the blanket to fit.

Lots to Love 8 Inch Baby Doll Moses Basket

I've been using this pattern for several years to provide the smaller baby dolls with bassinets. However, Annie Potter keeps moving her patterns to a different location. I'm not sure how much longer it will be available to purchase. However, her Sweet Baby Layette pattern still seems to be available for purchase from her company here.

This was made with left over Premier Puzzle Hangman I had left over from making a charity hat. I used a H hook. The blanket is made from a Darski's free BBL pattern set found here using an G hook and some old sport baby yarn.

Lil Cutesies Moses Basket

The Lil Cutesies Moses Basket is the last of the small doll Moses Baskets I need for the 2023 doll donation. My hands just aren't up to making the large baby doll baskets anymore.

I picked one up for the Lots to Love 14 Inch Baby Doll during the holiday sales. One of the very generous women who crochets for the donation has shown interest in trying the free pattern I've used for years so that is a possibility. If that doesn't work out I will pick up the basket I picked up for the second 16 inch Baby doll for last year's donation so they both had a doll carrier/bed.

Lots to Love 10 Inch Baby Doll Moses Basket

The time has arrived to begin the 2023 Doll Donation and I decided to start with an item that didn't make it into the 2022 doll donation. My hands started to have pain after making the large moses baskets and I never got around to making one for the Lots to Love 10 Inch Baby Doll.

This was a great starter project for the year. The yarn for the Moses basket is yarn I had targeted last year to finish off. With this project I'm down to two small balls and it will finally be gone from my stash.

I normally use lighter weight sport yarn for the doll blanket but I really wanted to finish off some yarn bobbins I had left over from a previous project and the blanket retired them all nicely and even dug into a large ball I had left over from another project.

I'm thinking of using a smaller hook for the other two smaller baby dolls as this carrier would be a little large for the Lots to Love 8 inch or the Lil Cutesie doll.

I used 2 strands of worsted acrylic yarn and an H hook. I added rows to the side to have a higher side to prevent the doll from rolling out. I also chose after making the second handle to make the handle first and then sew it on as I found it easier to get the alignment I wanted when it wasn't crocheted first. I tend to think the attachment is stronger when crocheted on but it is also at a more awkward angle.

The blanket pattern is part of a free set for the ten inch doll found here. I used a J hook even with the heavier yarn and it worked well for the blanket.

Lots to Love 10 Inch Doll Bathing Suit

As I mentioned previously as I set out on this mission to dress the donation dolls in bathing suits I realized I had a bigger pattern collection for this project than I realized. I orginally made this Sun Suit pattern for the 8 inch doll back in 2020 from a pattern in Annie Potter Presents Sweet Baby Doll Layette available for purchase here.

I looked at my pattern notes from 2020 and it looked like it would adjust to the 10 inch doll without much of a challenge. The issue would be finding the right yarn and the correct hook size. As usual it was trial and error.

Notes:

I used no longer available Red Heart sport yarn for this project. In the future when my supply runs out Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn Sport is about the same and would work as a substitute. I've been working steadily on finishing off what is a very old stash of Red Heart sport yarn and it is good to know I have a back up when its gone.

For the bathing suit everything but the leg trim and the heart I used a G hook. I used an e for the heart and the leg trim. Size was an issue for the heart and the trim.

I tried making the hat with a g hook but it proved to be too large so I went back to an e hook and it fit better.
