Bunny with Carrot Dress
I found the bunny for the Easter Project and finally finished the first one. The bunny pattern is called Dress Me Bunny and is free and found here. The blog has several different free patterns you can use to dress the bunny once you make it. I chose the Carrot Dress found here. The outfits do include overalls if you don't want a dress for your bunny.
As I was working my way through the pattern I decided I didn't want to have floppy legs so I reworked the pattern to split the legs and add on the feet.
When I make the second one my plan is to make the two legs and crochet them together to the abdomen level and then crochet the head and torso and join that way. It is a better solution than the one I made for this bunny. The gloppy legs of this pattern are a great option, I just wanted my bunnies to have the ability to stand.
I used an e hook with worsted weight yarn to get a smaller bunny. The bunny is by no means tiny, but had I used a g hook it would have been larger. I still had to use an I hook to get the dress to fit on the top. When I make the dress again I'm thinking about reducing to a smaller hook once I get past the dress fitting the tummy so it doesn't flair out quite so much. I do like the pockets on this dress. I'm on the fence about whether I'll add the collar to the next dress. I didn't think I'd like it with the orange dress, but it did look nice in the maroon version so I'm considering what I want for the second bunny.
The carrot purse and carrots worked out according to directions and I used an e hook for the purse and a D for the carrots.
I added extra rows at the 30 stitches to help the shoes fit the feet. I suspect this has to do with how I constructed and stuffed the feet. I then reduced stitch count and finished as described.
Easter is fast approaching and I need to finish off my projects.

Flashback Friday Easter Projects 2019
I don't generally do Flashback posts but as I was researching what to make for Easter this year I went back to look at what I made last year as a reference and realized I never posted what I made as a record for times like this when I can't remember what I made. So this is for me so next year when I want to look back and remember what have I already made and sent I have a searchable record with links to patterns.
I've always loved patterns that give kids more than just a stuffed animal. It doesn't hurt that it provides storage too. This is a fun free pattern you can find here. The pattern shows room for multiple bunnies mine only had room for one, which wasn't the end of the world for me. I suspect with some work you can make it larger to accommodate more bunnies.
The bunny puppets were from a free pattern found here. Learning from this project I remade them and posted about the project last week. The eggs come from a dinosaur egg pattern you can purchase here. I was going to do dino and dragon eggs last year and never got to it.
Cowboy Billy has been a favorite Easter pattern of mine for quite some time. He can be purchased here. Just because he's a duck he doesn't need to be an Easter pattern, but I find there are lots of non-holiday patterns. I love finding unique patterns that will work for holiday themes. A western themed duck has proven on several occasions to be just the right choice for an Easter basket.
Petunia the Purple Bunny Ballerina was the April Bonus Pattern from the 2018 Crochet Calendar. I do rather miss that annual publication. I always got a couple doll and ami patterns to add to my pattern collection from it.
From the pictures I was looking through this appears to be the package from last year and now I have the links to reference too. This blog is my reference point for old projects. So adding this post will help me keep track of items made and remember where I found the patterns should I be looking again.

Royal Bunny Finger Puppets
I made these once before but I wasn't quite pleased with how they came out so I wanted another crack at them. You can find the free pattern here.
The changes:
I have had these sew on googly eyes for some time now but generally I've either used safety eyes for my ami's or sewn eyes. However for finger puppets saftey eyes are not an option. This project seemed the perfect chance to try out the googly eyes.
I used the ears from the Spring Finger Puppet pattern found here. They are made in one piece and much easier to sew on and I find they stay up better. I experimented with the arms sewing them long wise instead of in the round. The king's arms ended up being a better length I started with a chain 8 with sc in each stitch and dc in same place on end to make hand. The queen was an experiment and too long but we live and learn.
The crown was also an experiment. I followed the prescribed number of chain stitches and did a row of sc. For the next row I dc in first stitch skipped stitch slip stitch dc in next stitch and repeated around.
These are my personal notes as a backup should I lose my notes.

Green Eyed Bunny
The Green Eyed Bunny is the last of the bunnies I made using Easter Bunny Gang pattern. I have had some cat ami eyes for ages and I decided to use up some green yarn that I had rolled into balls after completing another project. It all just came together. This guy almost didn't make it into the box. I need to make another one before Easter, as I've had a local request for one.
I have a bunny to finish for a magician's hat I'm making for an April birthday project. After that I should have time to squeeze another bunny in before Easter. Then I am hoping to finish another 70's outfit for an 18" doll before the May birthday box has to go out. It's busy but doable.
My swap box has reached CA so I am hoping to be able to post pictures of the items I made for that project soon, too.

Rainbow Bunny
Rainbow Bunny is the third of the Easter Bunny Gang I have finished so far. He is one of my favorites. Color changes were a bit challenging, but I liked the outcome. In honor of his rainbow theme, I decided to go with colored safety eyes instead of the solid black. The blue seemed to give him more life.
I have one more bunny to make and I'm not quite sure which direction to go yet. The fourth pattern is a combo of a couple of patterns. I am still deciding on what combinations I will use. I am not planning to follow the combos of the pattern.
Right now, I'm working on finishing up my ami swap projects. I have a bit of a theme going and I am hoping my swap partner will like the outcome.

Taxi Bunny
This is the second bunny I made using the Easter Bunny Gang pattern. I struggled to get the x's done correctly and while I was focused on doing two things at once I forgot to add the ami eyes before closing the bunny. Therefore, this bunny has the bug eyes. Since the children don't know what the bunnies are supposed to look like and the patterns are designed to mix and match, I am OK with my mistake. I do wish I could embroider better on top of the crochet, but having tried it several times and pulled it out, this is my best shot at it.

Sweetie Bunny
I was very fortunate to receive the Easter Bunny Gang from a very thoughtful Fairy Godmother as part of Crochetville's Wishlists. I started with Sweetie Bunny and I didn't quite get the white pattern the way I wanted it, I thought it was a great start. I love the hat that finishes off the outfit.
There are four different bunnies in this pattern although one repeats a pattern with different colors and a different style of eye. These work up quickly and are great additions for Easter baskets or just for fun ami's.
I have three finished and one more to do. I have to finish my amigurumi swap and then I can get back to my Easter box. They both have about the same deadline.

Easter Bunny Gang
The Fairy Godmothers at Crochetville have been at it again. I received the Easter Bunny Gang this week from an amazingly thoughtful FGM.
If you haven't seen these bunnies you should check them out. I am so pleased at getting them because I know they are going to add some wonderful options for my Easter baskets for next year.
I have a another doll outfit finished and photographed to post next week.

Boy Duck with Green Shirt and Egg
This was the last of the ducks I made using the "Easter Eggs" pattern from the April 2011 Crochet World.
I decided to play with the egg until I could actually get the duck inside the egg and found I had to use an M hook. As I mentioned in a previous post, the duck fit, but it started to lose its egg shape.
I chose green as that is one of this child's favorite colors. It did not necessarily have an Easter feel to it, but it he looked adorable when he was done.
I do not do well repeating projects, so I try to find a way to make each one a little different. This pattern only had two ducks. So in order to make the second boy different I went back to Crochet Village's Eggheads to find an alternate hat. I settled on the cowboy hat I used on the orange chick earlier. I love being able to use one pattern to change another.

Girl Duck with Egg
This was my second attempt at the "Easter Eggs" pattern from the April 2011 Crochet World. Since there are two boys and a girl now it seemed appropriate to make the girl duck for the girl in the group. The duck pattern worked fine, but even moving up to an I hook the egg still was not large enough to hold the duck.
While the boy duck has a shirt and hat, the girl duck has a bib front dress that was fun to make. The original pattern called for foam balls, I decided to stuff my ducks. Knowing these were going to have some rough play, I thought the stuffing would last longer.
I also chose to use safety eyes instead of gluing wiggle eyes or sewing eyes to the project.

Bunny Egg with Bunny Slippers
This is another item created from Crochet Village's Egghead's pattern.
I originally intended to make the mother and father bunny and include them in the Easter box. However, it is confession time. I fell in love with the bunny slippers and with the box rather full and time running short, I have decided that bunny will be staying here. Next year I will send bunnies, but this year with the projects I still have to post, the multiple Easter boxes are full.
I expect those bunny slippers will be appearing in other ami projects I make in the future. I have already used one of the hats from this pattern set on a duck project I needed a different look for after completing the two that pattern provided.

Mr. Bluebird
I promised I would get to Crochet Village's Eggheads pattern to include in my Easter box. I finished Mr. Bluebird as a break between Pirate arms. These work up quickly. He was slightly smaller because the scrap yarn I used was not quite as heavy as most of the other worsted weight I have in my collection. I am not sure what weight it is, as it seems a bit heavy for sports weight. I liked the color and a specific size was not an issue. He will work perfectly for an egg or just to go in a basket.
My hope is to finish three birds and three bunnies. I would not mind having a few extras to decorate the house here if I have time. As for my own Easter decorations, I am working on Pricilla, a bunny toilet paper cover to replace the Leprechaun now that St. Patrick's Day has passed.

Easter Egg Dishcloth
My digital Crochet World subscription just yielded its first benefits. I downloaded this pattern from the April 2007 edition. This is actually a pot holder pattern, but I adapted it into a dishcloth. The Sugar 'n Cream Yarn makes great dishcloths that are easy to clean. I usually substitute it for pot holder yarn requirements.
There are several different styles of decorated eggs in this pattern including a plain egg, stripes, and various shapes.
This was the first time I have used a chart when crocheting. I know they are common in knitting, but most of the crochet patterns I have used to date are written out. It was great getting a chance to practice on a basic pattern. I have avoided some of the more complicated patterns because of the charts.
If I want to do more work with charts, I will need to work on color changes. The ability to make changes cleanly is what creates the patterns.

Free Easter Egg Dishcloth Potholder Pattern
I have looked at Easter dishcloth patterns in books and free patterns online. I had not seen an egg pattern that was practical as well as decorative until I located this free potholder Easter egg pattern.
The pattern was simple and quick to make. If you can handle single crochet and single crochet decreases, you can manage this project. The pattern is for a potholder that requires making two eggs and sewing them together for the potholder. I made only one. As I did with the shamrock for St. Patrick's Day, this will be my shaped dishcloth.
If you are looking for simple gifts to make dishcloths can be a great way to give people practical holiday decorations. There are many free patterns available for those who crochet and knit. With the variety of colors available in cotton yarn, it is easy to match colors to desired choices.

Easter Granny Square Dishcloth
I have been on a kick lately to make cotton dishcloths for our kitchen. My husband actually asked me yesterday if he could use one of the shamrocks to clean with and I laughed. I like decorative items, but my point in using cotton has been to make them practical, not just pretty. The shamrock has been put to good use.
I have been experimenting with a variety of granny squares. First, they are a fun pattern to play with and can be done in a variety of locations without having to carry many directions. Secondly, they make decorative items. Lastly, they have a scrubbing quality that flat panels have not given me. Those bumps do have a cleaning quality. Even though you lose some cleaning quality with the granny gaps.
The variegated cotton dishcloth yarn makes wonderful granny patterns. Last year, I made knitted and crochet basic square dishcloths. They were not nearly as pretty as the granny versions. I will continue to make both as they all serve different cleaning purposes.

Easter Comes Late
I have been working on creating holiday packages and most have fixed dates. Easter is always an interesting challenge as it floats between March and April making planning a challenge. An additional challenge is there are two birthdays that fall around the Easter date in April and May that I have to work around the Easter package that is mailed. Over the last few weeks, I have been working on Easter and St. Patrick's Day projects. Yesterday I checked the calendar and was pleasantly surprised to discover that Easter does not fall until April 24th this year.
This means I have extra time to work on Easter, two kids birthdays, and even put time into planning my husband's Easter and birthday gifts.
Sometimes the small things provide us with gratitude and relief.

Blue Bunny
My husband bought Super-Cute Crochet: Over 35 Adorable Animals and Friends to Make
The faces of these characters are different from previous ami's I have made. What I have traditionally used as the bottom of the head is used as the front and back of the character's head. These animals work up quickly and I plan to make several of them for Easter baskets this year. I also am planning to experiment with the Kitty pattern that has the look of a Hello Kitty pattern. There is a dress pattern for the kitten and I am thinking about experimenting with it for St. Patrick’s Day.
I am currently working on the chicken pattern. These patterns are cute, but much simpler than the ami's found in Amigurumi World: Seriously Cute Crochet
