Crafting is fun for all ages and interests. This blog evolved from researching resources for friends and articles I write as a freelance writer. It is a place to share the information I discovered. Please feel free to leave comments and questions. I am always looking at new projects ideas for family and friends in areas of my own abilities and theirs. Samuel Whiskers
I'm continuing my Beatrix Potter birthday crochet project with The Tale of Samuel Whiskers using the pattern found in the Simply Crochet supplement from issue 110. You can purchase a digital copy here.
I made this project using Omega Sinfonia cotton and a B hook. If I make him again I'd think about using acrylic for the coat as it was stiffer than I liked.
I'm still contemplating the patterns for The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck and The Tale of Benjamin Bunny to include either as part of the birthday box or as a Christmas gift. I made a bunch of ducks for Make Way for Ducklings but this one is dressed which makes it unique. Both would also be fun additions for an Easter box. That would also give me more space to work on other projects.

Mouse and Cookie
I love when I can make toys that encourage children to enjoy reading, revisit a book, or maybe even enjoy a new one. I ran across free patterns for the characters from If You Give a Mouse a Cookie
Updated to add sadly the patterns have been removed again. If I find them I will add them again.
I downloaded copies for myself and added the links to my toy page. The links eventually went dead, I took them down and still had not made the mouse or the pig. Recently, I found the links for the mouse and the pig were available again. After adding them to my toy page, the projects seemed like perfect additions for my Easter box. When I finished the mouse, I could not return to the pirates right away. I continued right on to the pig. So, both books and toys will be included in the Easter box. I have the second book on order.
