Lots to Love 10 Inch Baby Doll Sweetly Pants, Top, Shoes

This was made using Darski's free Sweetly pattern set for the Lots to Love 10 inch baby doll found here.

Notes:

I'm continuing my quest to finish off my skein of Lion Brand Baby Soft Dusty Lilac and I added Baby Bernat Baby Baby for the contrast.

Bonnet:

I used an e hook for the bonnet and added rows to make it long enough. It was a little wider than I'd hoped this year so I'd decrease before the face rows next time if it is loose.

I'd place the ties further out. They are too close to tie make them effective.

Shirt:

The shirt was made with a G hook and I followed directions as written.

Pants:

I've been playing with my own top down pants for this outfit for a while now.

Chain 44 and join.

HDC in each chain and join for a total of 8 rows.

Chain 3 ss into 22nd stitch and start first leg.

I didn't record number of legs for rows but I did decrease last row with sc around.

Last row made with sc chain 3 around.

Shoes:

I've been playing with her bootie pattern to make Mary Jane shoes to give the doll a variety of shoes.

Lots to Love 10 Inch Baby Doll Sweetly

I was concerned about the availability of the Lots to Love 10" Baby Dolls after discovering the 8" dolls are no longer available.

I've struggled with the 10 inch dolls even longer often resorting to school supply sites to find them. I was pleasantly suprised to find them online this year not only at Amazon, but Walmart and Michaels. I stocked up as nothing is promised but I thought I'd put that out there for anyone else looking for the smaller baby dolls. Michaels' website says they are only available online.

This dress set was made using Darski's free Sweetly pattern found here. There are several patterns included and I use most of them for the donation.

Notes:

This outfit was made with Bernat Big Ball Sport yarn in Pink and Baby Baby.

From my previous notes I read the panties were long which resulted in needing a longer skirt for the dress to cover them so I started with the panties. I'd previously had trouble with the crotch but this time there was no problem. I just find these are long to fit over the tummy and then create the split for the legs. Followed as written they do create panties, but the skirt as written is still too short.

Having made the panties I decided to finish the other accessories before making the dress. Although, to be fair I redid one bootie and the bonnet on finishing the dress.

These adjustments to the booties work great, but you actually have to follow the complete directions or they fall off. I made the first one as written the second one I skipped rwo 7 and the bootie refused to stay on the doll's foot. I remade it after finishing the dress.

My notes say the bonnet fits as written and I have no idea how. So I'm revising my notes for this year. The bonnet as written is currently sitting on the Lots to Love 14 inch Doll for when I make this outfit for that doll's donation.

I used an E hook for the bonnet.

There was a good deal of adding and pulling out so I don't have a complete answer but I added rows after row 8 until the bonnet was big enough. Then I finished with row 9.

I used 40 chains for ties so this requires chaining 43.

I used the suggested G hook for the dress I'd consider an F for my next attempt as this felt roomy.

In the past I believe I reduced around the arms when adding trim and I did not do that this time. I would do that for future outfits.

I finish the back adding a button hole and later a buttton not following the written directions.

Lots to Love 8 Inch Baby Doll Nightgown

I am determined not to spend the fall scrambling to make my challenge projects like the nightgowns and bathing suits. So I've been trying to work them in like the baby doll accessories as I work on larger projects.

This nightgown comes from Darski's free Sweetly pattern found here that is designed for the larger 10 inch baby doll. With a little adjustment it works well for the smaller 8 inch doll and the Lil Cutesies doll.

Notes:

I don't tend to buy a great deal of Lion Brand yarn as it is more expensive than my other options. However, occasionally there are sales and items find there way into my stash. For my own reference this is Lion Brand's Baby Soft Pastel Print. If I find it on sale I'd buy it again. It worked up nicely for this project.

I used a C hook to get this to fit the smaller doll.

I needed to change the rows to get it to fit the smaller doll.

I followed rows 1-17 then completed rows 33-37.

I finished the back and then did the ties as suggested making mine 30 chains.

I decreased the stitch count on the arms and finished with a chain 3 skip to make it more decorative.

Lots to Love 14 Inch Baby Doll Nightgown

Several years ago I made a mistake of not reading my notes and made this nightgown with the suggested G hook for the Lots to Love 10 inch Baby doll. It was huge and the Lots to Love 14 Inch Baby Doll inherited a nightgown. For some reason I never went back and made it for the larger baby doll again until I went on a quest to give nightwear to the dolls this year for the donation and realized I didn't have a specific pattern for the larger doll but I had used this pattern previously.

With this item finished this doll is also ready to be boxed the day before Halloween!

I used a G hook and Bernat Baby Big Ball Sport Yarn.

Bernat Baby Sport and Herrschners' brand yarns have been my go to yarn for the baby doll projects. I just ordered more of the Herrschners' striped yarns for the 2026 donation as I still have solid colors from my previous order but I've burned through quite a bit of my striped stash this year and do to the price of shipping I try to order only when they have shipping offers.

Supplies change but I find most of my Baby Bernat sport at Walmart. I used to order it online but the Walmart oddly has kept a wider selection of colors than I could find online and the price has been good. I've kept a decent stash so not sure what the current state of their availability is for this brand but I'll be starting there when I need more next year.

Lots to Love 8 Inch Baby Doll Nightgown

I'm working towards my goals of finishing the year with as many dolls having nightgowns and PJ's as possible. This pattern is Darski's free Sweetly pattern set found here.

As this set is designed for the larger 10 inch baby dolls some adjustments were required.

Notes:

I used a C hook for this project with Bernat Big Ball Baby yarn. I try to keep both the ombre's and single colors in my stash as I need them for various projects.

This is a smaller than intended doll for this project so even with decreasing hook size I needed to decrease rows.

I followed rows 1-17 then completed rows 33-37.

I finished the back and then did the ties as suggested making mine 30 chains.

Lots to Love 10 Inch Baby Doll Sweetly Nightgown

It does pay to read my notes not just look at the colors of the yarn before starting a project. The last time I made this I used Bernat Baby yarn. This is still technically baby yarn but a 4 not a 3. While Herschnerrs tends to be lighter than most it was still a bit heavier than needed for this project. A reminder to myself to follow what I've used not the pattern directions when choosing a yarn for next year.

Lots to Love 10 Inch Baby Doll Sweetly Dress

With this project for the Lots to Love 10 Inch Baby Doll I finished the first skein of yarn from the pile I unearthed in my doll donation area. The yellow is an old skein of Woolworth's yarn and it worked up nicely for these two projects. I added some Herrschners' Baby Yarn as a contrast yarn and for the accessories when the yellow ran out. I used Bernat Baby white for the undies.

I did this in the suggested g hook but I think I'd go with an f hook next year as it was a little large. Again it could be the Woolworth's yarn is just heavier. I would crochet to arms and check as I believe I used Bernat Baby the last time which is a lighter yarn.

Since I used the bonnet for the previous outfit I experimented with a hat using front and back post stitches.

I used the multi-colored yarn for the booties. I wanted a different color anyways since the doll already has yellow booties so running out of the yellow was less of a crisis in this situation.

For my own notes these are the adjustments I make for the booties to get them to fit:

Lots to Love 10 Inch Baby Doll Sweetly Sweater, Pants, Bonnet, and Booties

Every year I target yarn that has been far too long in my stash. This year I found some yarn that had been moved up in my donation storage area that was a mix of yarns.

I decided to start the year by finishing this yarn off because there isn't room in my normal stash for this odd mix of yarns. Some comes from pre-Covid Church sales, some from people looking to rehome yarn when a loved one passed, and other yarn that needed a good home but didn't quite fit the projects I was working on at the time.

The yellow for this project is an old skein of Woolworths yarn. I'm not sure where this came from. I've picked up some old stuff from Church sales, I've also been gifted stuff from people looking to rehome yarn. This was the first skein on top and it seemed like a good target for Darski's free pattern set Sweetly. This will not be the last time you see this yellow. I hope to work through this set until the yellow is gone sending the doll off with a vintage Woolworth's addition to its new wardrobe.

The multi-colored yarn is Baby Worsted 4 from Herrschners.

You can find Darski's free pattern set here. It has a whole set of patterns for the 10 inch Lots to Love doll. I've adapted these for smaller and once for the larger 14 inch baby doll.

Notes:.

Bonnet:

The pattern starts with the bonnet and I started there this time. I used the suggested g hook. I'd likely go for an f next time. Then again it could just be this yarn which I'm not likely to see again.

Sweater:

I had changes listed and I'm wondering if these are actually for the larger doll and I'd forgotten? The numbers worked as written for this doll.

I used an f hook for the sweater. I finished the edgings and closed the top with a button.

Pants:

I always make my pants from top down splitting at crotch and making legs. I've tried the method suggested here for making legs and joining but it is always much more challenging for me than productive.

F hook. Chain 44 to fit waist.

Booties:

E hook

I keep playinng with the booties but this seems to be the best fit yet.

Lots to Love 10 Inch Baby Doll Sweater Set

Thanks to Darski's free patterns for the Lots to Love 10 Inch Baby Doll I've gotten a good start on the donation bag for 2024. This is the sweater from her Sweetly pattern set found here.

In years past this sweater has come out large enough to fit the Rag Doll and the Lots to Love 14 inch Baby doll so this year after realizing I was headed down that path again I decided it was time to make changes and record them.

Notes:

I used Bernat Big Baby Sport Pink and Baby Baby. Sweater:

The pattern changes from a G to an F hook I stayed with the F hook for the entire sweater.

Row 1 as written.

Row 2 skip one skip one stitch between pattern directions this reduces overall stitch count making sweater less bulky and a better fit on the doll.

Row 3 dc in every dc 2dc in every chain space. This adds stitches back to original pattern but not nearly as wide as original.

Row 4 dc in 3 2 dc in next. Slows down increase from original pattern.

Row 4a as written with different number of total stitches.

Row 5 I had to fudge row 5 to make the numbers work for the armholes based on new number of stitches. I didn't record because it took me a few tries to make it work.

Rows 6-8 were worked as written based on the new stitch count.

Pants:

As I mentioned in previous posts I've been using my own basic pants pattern. I finally recorded the chains required for this doll's waist.

Chain 44 for waist. For this set I did a row of sc prior to finishing rest in dc. I would do that again it made for a better waist. I did not use elastic for these pants. I did a chain 3 and join to split for legs.

Booties:

I keep playing with the adaptation for this pattern trying to get the best fit but this is what I've been working on recently

The headband is a work in progress. Still a little larger than I wanted. I'd likely go down to a D hook the next time. I did a row of sc to fit the doll's head and then crocheted around the row on both sides finishing with a sc chain 3 edging.

Lots to Love 10 Inch Doll Sweetly Nightgown

Both of Darski's free pattern sets for the Lots to Love 10 Inch Baby doll, Sweetly and BBL, have nightgown patterns. I've made both for the donation and have decided I prefer the Sweetly pattern and so I've begun the set of baby doll nightgown's with the size doll the pattern was intended for and I will hopefully adapt it to the smaller baby dolls before the donation date.

Notes:

This outfit was made with Bernat Baby Sport Ombre Baby Baby Yarn and an F hook.

I eliminated rows as I found it too long for the doll. I also finished the back before adding the closing ties.

I left the short sleeves and used a sc chain 3 to finish sleeves.

Lots to Love 10 Inch Baby Doll Sweetly Pants and Shirt

I finally finished the free Sweetly set for the Lots to Love 10 inch doll which you can find here. Darski has one more free set for the 10 inch baby doll I hope to get to but I also need to do some work for the other baby dolls as well.

This was made with Bernat Big Baby Sport Lavender and White. I followed the sweater directions using a G hook. I altered the pants making them top down with an F hook using hdc. I also altered the shoe pattern to make them into Mary Jane shoes as they stay on the feet a little better.

Lots to Love 10 Inch Doll Sweetly Nightgown

After the first nightgown going to the Lots to Love 8 inch doll I wanted to make sure the Lots to Love 10 Inch doll that the Sweetly Set is written for actually got one for the donation. I used an F hook for this with Bernat Baby Sport Yarn. I still needed to remove a few rows as it would have been too long.

Lots to Love 10 Inch Doll Sweetly Dress

You might have noticed I've been working alternating between the smaller baby dolls and Barbie's clan to make sure I catch up on donations for these dolls. This is another outfit from the free Sweetly pattern set found here.

Guage has been kind of funny this year with this set but while I've used smaller hooks for other patterns in the set this year I went with a g hook as suggested for everything but the shoes and I adapted the shoes using an f hook. I turned the bootie pattern into shoes. I've found they stay on the doll a bit easier.

I went with a contrasting yellow for this set because I'd made a pink bonnet for the other set I'm sending with the 10 inch doll and thought some variety might be nice. The pink worked better than the yellow with the variegated yarn I wanted to use, but the yellow was a nice contrast for the bonnet, panties, and shoes. There's one more set with another bonnet so I'm going to have to see what colors I have left to make a different colored bonnet so the child ends up with mix and match options for dressing the doll.

Lots to Love 10 Inch Doll Sweetly Sweater Set

One reason for writing this blog is it gives me notes about how I approached a project the last time I made it. However, it doesn't mean those directions will apply again. I looked up my project notes for this outfit and found myself abandoning them as the outfit didn't even fit the 8 inch Lots to Love doll when I was done. So either my directions were wrong, the yarn was not what I thought I had used, or my guage was really weird last year for this project.

Anyways this year I used Bernat Baby Sport yarn and an f hook for the outift.

The sweater and bonnet pattern I followed as written other than using an f hook and baby yarn. Other than Amy Carrico's footed pajama's I tend to make my pants top down splitting for the crotch and I did that for these pants as well.

I did change the shoe pattern as for some reason the booties weren't working for me. I crocheted the first 3 rounds using an f hook. Round 4 was done in sc in back loops. I did another round in sc. Then I decreased 4 times around the toes with sc for rest of last row.

Lots to Love 8 Inch Doll Sweetly Nightgown

Not sure why I went with an e hook instead of an f but for future reference an e hook with baby yarn fits the 8 inch Lots to Love doll nicely. I did need to reduce rows as the doll is shorter but the basic pattern format works well for this doll as well as the bigger 10 inch doll. I didn't change stitch count at all just the number of rows.

Lil Cutesies Sweetly Dress with Shoes

It was time to alter the free Sweetly pattern found here to fit the Lil Cutesies Doll as I keep looking for ways to increase the wardrobes of all the donation dolls.

This outfit was made with Herrschners Peach Baby yarn and Bernat Big Ball Baby Sport Yarn, Tiny Tulips.

The dress was made with an E hook using a D for the arm trim. I added a shell trim to the bottom with the E hook.

The shoes were made from the Gingham Tote Tykes pattern which can be purchased as a digital pattern here or a print pattern here. There are 3 different shoe patterns to go with each of the outfits included in the pattern set but I like these shoes the best. They fit well and are fairly easy to make for the doll.

I chose the Herrchners yarn as I'm trying to finish it off but it is a slightly heavier baby yarn. When I make this again I'd likely stick with Bernat Baby Big Ball Sport Yarn, Peach Blossom the color isn't as dark as the Herrschners but it is a lighter weight which is better suited to the smaller dolls.

Lots to Love 14 Inch Doll Sweetly Dress

I was blessed to receive a gift of Herrschners yarn from a member of Ravelry's Charity Knitting group and I've been targeting it ever since for my doll projects. I needed a middle weight yarn between sport and worsted to increase the size of the Sweetly free pattern found here to fit the Lots to Love 14" Baby Doll and the Herrschners worsted which is closer to a DK was a great fit for this project.

I used an I hook until I changed colors to Bernat Big Ball Baby Sport Yarn, Tiny Tulips when I began using a G hook. I switched to an F hook when I started on the skirt. The upper chest and arm holes required the larger hook even with the heavier yarn but once past the arms the dress became too large without decreasing hook size.

I didn't follow the panties pattern as I've discussed before I chain the distance around the doll waist and then begin alternating hdc and dc until I reach the crotch where I split for the legs. I'm still working on a hat pattern I like. The shoes are from the Amy Carrico's Baby Spring set that can be purchased here. I like the fit of these shoes and likely will be making more as I continue with clothes for this doll.

The trim for the arms is as written. I added a sc chain 1 trim to the bottom of the skirt.

I promised myself I was going to finish up the Euro Babe yarn in my stash so I decided to use it for my next doll outfit along with Bernat Baby Sport Big Ball Yarn, Ombres, Baby Baby. Still have more yarn to go so expect to see it popping up on more doll outfits.

I used a G hook for the dress and a C hook for the arm trim. The trim was too large until I reached the C hook.

I'm continuing to work my way through Darski's free Sweetly pattern for the 10 inch baby dolls found here. My first attempt at the nightgown fit the Lots to Love 14" Baby Doll .

For my second attempt I used an E hook and Lion Brand Babysoft Yarn, Pastel Print and arrived at a better fit.

15 Inch Rag Doll Sweetly Sweater and Pants

I'm always looking for opportunities to adapt patterns that fit the other dolls to the 2 Rag Dolls. When I realized the free Sweetly sweater pattern found here would fit the Lots to Love 14" Baby Doll I realized there was a chance the pattern might fit the rag dolls as well. Previous exchanges had worked.

This project was made with a G hook and Bernat Baby Big Ball Sport Yarn, Baby Blue and Ombre,Funny Prints along with the dark blue no longer available Red Heart Baby Sport Yarn.

Notes:

The construction of the sweater fit the doll well it was just short. I fixed this by adding rows prior to the final two finishing rows to get the length I wanted for the sweater.

The pants were made chaining the distance around the waist and joining and then making rows of dc until it was time to split for the crotch. I don't have a pattern for the pants but they are a pretty basic construction. To tighten the waist since I tend to overestimate the distance around to make them easy to pull on and off I sc 4 decrease for 2 rounds and I'm generally at a good pull on and off spot. I suggest testing to see how it works.
