Crafting is fun for all ages and interests. This blog evolved from researching resources for friends and articles I write as a freelance writer. It is a place to share the information I discovered. Please feel free to leave comments and questions. I am always looking at new projects ideas for family and friends in areas of my own abilities and theirs. Rag Doll A Dress for February
Technically the holiday outfits won't be used until after they are gifted this Christmas so being late finishing a Valentine outfit isn't the end of the world.
A Dress for February is a free Dora the Explorer Doll pattern you can find here. In order to get it to fit the Rag doll I used a K hook for the top section and an I hook for the skirt.
For my own notes I used Red Heart Super Saver Grenadine for the dark pink this year. It's a new to me shade and I likely will not remember its name to buy again if I don't record. The white and pink are left over from previous projects that I'm trying to finish off. I used a button to close the back.

16 Inch Baby Doll Bib Pink
I was sorting finished outfits into the correct doll bags and took the time to do a little inventory. I realized I still need one doll carrier, which I've sinced order since my hands won't be up to crocheting the last one this year. While I have one extra baby doll diaper bag left over from last year, and I ordered one, I still have one more to purchase. However, in the how did I miss this category, I realized when I left off making diaper bag items in March I missed making the last baby doll bib. Since this is a fairly quick project, I decided to get this off my to do list.
This is based on a free pattern found here that I've adapted to fit the larger baby doll I donate. The pattern has additional items you can make, but as time has gone on with this donation I've been focusing on the things I can make that have the most play value and opting to find substitutes when my efforts don't really translate into the play value I feel they should.
In order to get this to fit JC Toys 16 Inch Baby Doll I did the following with an F Hook:
Start with a chain 16
Continue pattern for 20 rows
Row 21 do row 11 neck shaping
Chain 40 stitches for ties
Just a note to self because I did forget this time don't stop at row 20 but continue with white until you finish row 21

Farmer Girl
I finally have one resident for the one of the farms that will be leaving here at Christmas time. I am hoping she will have a male companion and that the other farm will also be fully stocked will animals and people prior to Christmas. This was my first attempt with a crochet ami doll and it had its moments. I have been reading more tutorials about hair and heads as evidenced by the collection of tutorials posted yesterday. However, those all came after the creation of this doll when I realized more work was needed. However, as a first effort I am pleased. There were parts that went better than I thought they would.
I have been collecting out of print patterns books and magazines to increase my pattern collection. This pattern is from Annie's Crochet Newsletter Jul-Aug 1992. Michelle Wilcox was the designer. It is interesting as I have started to collect patterns how many names you run across in different publications. This pattern was called "Wash Day" and designed as a display, not for children's play. However, the idea of a farmer that came with her own afghan seemed too good to let go. There is a goose with this pattern that will likely be added to the farm yard as I finish off all the other requirements.
