Barbie Easter Bunny Costume

I decided to try out my new talent with thread to make Barbie an Easter Bunny costume. This pattern is an out of print Bunny Costume from Annie's Fashion Doll Crochet Club, FC24-03 published in 1996. It was written by Jo Ann Bright for anyone who might want to find it on any of the resale sites.

It came out a little bigger than I expected, but considering how the thread catches that might not be such a bad thing. I was surprised because when I originally checked my gauge, I was concerned I might end up on the small side. Therefore, either my gauge changed or the gauge for the pattern was off. I tend to think it was my mistake.

Based on the fall scenery of the pattern picture, I believe this was originally intended as a Halloween costume. However, it seems perfect for Barbie to hand out Easter Eggs at her local Easter egg hunt with Skipper and Kelly or Chelsea, as I believe she is now being called. The clock is ticking on getting my Easter projects out and I am participating in an Amigurumi Swap. I have at least one item for the swap completed. We will have to see how far I get with anything else for that package while finishing my Easter box. I have several finished Easter projects to post this week. I only need one more ami bunny to finish the set. I have three ready to share this week. I will wait until after the swap is over to post my swap projects.

Barbie Strapless Gown

Slowly I have been working through my spring holiday doll patterns. This is the Annie's Attic Strapless Gown Pattern from Annie's Fashion Doll Quick and Easy book number 87D20. I believe this will be Barbie's Easter dress for the Easter package. I added an elastic waist as I did with the Valentine dress.

This dress used baby fingering yarn. The best part of creating this outfit was the skirt. I enjoyed using the shell stitch in a new way to create the skirt pattern.

Barbie Fashion Doll Easter

The drive was on to complete Barbie and fashion doll clothing for Easter baskets this year. As I mentioned before not all my digital photographs made the cut. However, I do have a few photographs to share. I will add more if I get the chance.

Mom again came through this better than I. She knitted outfits for the Easter season. I managed to save photographs of one of the Easter baskets I made. The pattern can be found in the freeEaster Links under crochet.

For all my complaints about lost photographs it was fun making finding the vintage pattern books online that use sports yarn. I have not mastered the art of thread crochet and finding books that utilize sports yarn has been a great gift. I managed to complete several dresses, skirts outfits, and short outfits. Even Ken got into the mix with a new pair of shorts. I am still struggling to find sports yarn patterns for him, but have a few I am looking to locate. So even without the pictures to document the efforts, I feel progress has been made.

I retain rights to all pictures. Written permission must be obtained to use pictures.

Knit and Crochet Easter Free Patterns

I was amazed how many great Easter knitting and crochet free patterns were available. I started this list while I was researching the Halloween blogs and it continues to grow.

I thought I would add some of my own Easter photographs that have come from this using these links.

The carrot rattle was fun and easy to do.

The Easter basket for Barbie has turned into a requested item. Even Ken had to get one.
