Crafting is fun for all ages and interests. This blog evolved from researching resources for friends and articles I write as a freelance writer. It is a place to share the information I discovered. Please feel free to leave comments and questions. I am always looking at new projects ideas for family and friends in areas of my own abilities and theirs. American Girl Doll Plastic Canvas Sandals
A family member has been learning plastic canvas and finished a first project, American Girl Doll sandals that will be appearing in an Easter basket this weekend. I am hoping another pair will be finished next month to mail with a dress I am making for a birthday present. I thought the dress and sandals would be done in time for Easter, but we both underestimated the time required.
These shoes were made using the patterns found in 18-Inch Doll Shoes from Annie's Attic. The booklet includes patterns for five different types of shoes, sandals, boots, slippers, clogs, and holiday shoes.

Plastic Canvas Buildings

I have been facinated with plastic canvas buildings, houses, and villages for a long time. It is challenging to find free patterns on the web. As I have beeen looking to buy patterns for someone I have not even found that to be an easy task. A few years ago the patterns seemed to be everywhere. Now they are more challenging to find. I am starting with a small collection, but as always it seems foolish to wait to share my finds. As I find more patterns to share I will add to the page.

Plastic Canvas Tissue Boxes

I had people asking about free patterns for tissue boxes so I began a search to find locate what resources were available on the Internet. This is what I have located so far in my search.
Update: February 28, 2014
A visitor kindly let me know some of the links had gone dead so I went and checked. Thankfully the Free Pattern main link was still live. They do occasionally move some of their patterns, but all where still on the site. Any time you visit their site; always try a search if you don't find a pattern you went to find. They do move stuff and you may find it there under a different link. The same was true of tsplace. Still around, just a link change. From what I can find it looks like Mountain Harmony is trying to transition to a new website. It has an updated coming soon message from 2014, but it looks like the transition started in 2013. For the moment, I have the links saved from the Wayback machine. If the new website comes up, I'll try to get the new links posted.

Christmas Craft Sale Deals

Holiday craft sales are starting earlier than ever this year. For those that sell crafts this is probably obvious.
However, some of these sales can be great times to get materials as well as learn new ideas for your own crafting. I have found the Senior Center sales in this area to be the best resource for finding craft books, kits, and other craft supplies. Many have a resale table for materials. While other sales tend to have knick knacks, toys, and Christmas ornaments on these tables, I have had amazing luck at the Senior Centers in finding craft materials. Many people begin to down size and donate the materials to their Senior Center for sale. The prices are often quite good. Even more importantly you can often find vintage pattern books no longer available.
Happy hunting.
