Crafting is fun for all ages and interests. This blog evolved from researching resources for friends and articles I write as a freelance writer. It is a place to share the information I discovered. Please feel free to leave comments and questions. I am always looking at new projects ideas for family and friends in areas of my own abilities and theirs. Calico Critter Mom Party Dress
This is one of On a Calico Day's Patterns that can be purchased here.
I've been working on the Calico Critter projects as they are quick projects to work on as I'm making the larger more complicated doll patterns. I finished the pants for the Our Generation Boy and the top section for his PJ's and stopped and made this as one completed project.
The longer more complicated projects are important for the donation but there is something mentally relaxing about having something completed and ready to go in a donation bag without multiple work sessions.
Notes:
I tried an experiment that was semi succesful. The 1mm hook was too tight for the top this year so I used the 1.5mm hook. I would transfer to the 1mm hook for the skirt for future projects. I used the 1mm for the trim.
This is made with size 20 thread.
The neckline needs to be reduced as a result of the skipped stiches to create the arms. I've thought about reducing the arms but haven't tried it yet.

Stacie Critter Empire Dress
I've been having so much fun adapting patterns to fit Chelsea and Stacie. This one Calico Critters pattern has outfited 3 different donation dolls and I couldn't be happier. You can purchase the Calico Critters pattern here.
Notes:
I used a size 1.8mm hook and size 10 thread for this project.
In order to get this to fit the larger doll I continued with row 6 until the outfit reached Stacie's knees. I then finished rows 7-8.
I finished the back and neck before adding a snap to close. I also chose to finish the arm holes. I find this makes the hands less likely to snag.

Chelsea Critter Empire Dress
I've been pleasantly surprised to discover with a little adaptation some of the Calico Critter Mom patterns will fit Chelsea. I'm always thrilled when I can get one pattern to fit multiple dolls. I'm currently experimenting to see if I can get it to stretch just a little more to fit Stacie as sadly I have few patterns for her and finding ones that I can adapt for her is a great blessing.
Notes:
As with the Calico Critter project I wrote about before I continued with size 10 thread for both colors. The odd part was the Calico bodice was huge on Chelsea. She needed a much smaller width but a longer length.
I used a 1.25 mm hook for Chelsea.
I repeated row 6 of the pattern until the dress reached Chelsea's knees. I then did row 7 and 8.
I've started Stacie's dress so we will see if it works out as I hoped. Sometimes while something looks good on Chelsea it doesn't quite work for Stacie. If it works you will see it here.
