Stacie Sleeping Bag

Another sleeping bag off my list for the 2025 donation. Both Chelsea and Stacie are made with the free Beanie Bag sleeping bag found here. Skipper, Barbie, and Ken use the Fashion Doll pattern found on the same blog.

I have a stash of Herrschners' yarn that I've bought when I had a shipping coupon and as I've gotten back into finishing the donation for 2025, I've been targeting it more for projects. The purpose of buying the yarn was to use it for projects not to have a stash. Most of what I have ranges between their 3 and 4 weights but I've found their weights are lighter than the other acrylic brands I've purchased. This oddly makes it better for certain doll projects because I don't have to pay more to buy a lighter weight yarn.

With this sleeping bag I've started using it for the Barbie sleeping bags and it works because they aren't as heavy. I'm currently working on Skipper's sleeping bag with Worsted 8 Baby Stripes Hydrangea left over from a project for the glitter girl. The next time I have a shipping coupon I'll be buying more of this color as I'll need it for the 2026 Glitter Girl project and the weight seems a good fit for the bags.

Stacie Nightgown

This is another one of the AG mini patterns I'm adapting for the Barbie dolls. You can purchase the pattern here.

Notes:

In order to get this pattern to fit Stacie I needed a 1.25mm hook and size 10 crochet thread.

I chose yellow and a Thread Art variegated yellow for this outfit.

The pattern includes arms, I chose to leave them off for Stacie as getting the outfit on and off would be rather hard with her bent arm and the opening created for the neckline.

I also did not include the bunny slippers. I find shoe patterns for the fashion dolls to be challenging when written for the doll. Trying to tackle them for a pattern not written for the doll seems not worth the challenge at this point.

Stacie Swimsuit

Continuing with my annual swimsuit challenge I move on to Stacie adapting Char Caywood's Chelsea pattern that you can purchase here.

Notes:

I use size 10 crochet thread and a 1.25mm thread hook to get this to fit Stacie.

I need to repeat rows 4 and 5 in the front panel before starting row six to get the length required for this outfit. I made a note after making this previously about needing a longer crotch but I didn't find that to be the case this time.

I haven't decided if I will try this pattern without the ruffle for Skipper or try to adapt a Barbie pattern for Skipper. I wasn't crazy about my previous attempt so I'm tempted to see if this will work before trying one of the Barbie options.

Stacie Cinderella

For some time now I've struggled to get a wardrobe made for Stacie.

Thanks to being able to adapt other doll patterns this year, I think for the first year she will leave with an adequate donation wardrobe.

I can generatlly get Barbie's clothes sized for Skipper and there are a surpising number of patterns out there for Chelsea but until I really stepped in to adapting other patterns for Stacie she's been rather neglected.

Many of the older pattern sets I have for this size fashion doll don't fit well for the modern version and the ones that do are a bit dated and not in a historical sense. I don't mind sending older styles with the doll but for some reasons some of the older patterns I have for this size doll didn't fit well even on the pictures of the models. So, I'm thrilled to find new options.

Notes:

While this pattern wasn't designed for a fashion doll the changes are fairly simple.

I used size 10 royal blue Aunt Lydia's and light blue of unknown variety for this project with a 1.25mm thread crochet hook.

To get the bodice to the correct length I needed to repeat row 11 to row 17 and then move to what was row 12.

For the skirt to be floor length Row 21 was continued to row 24 before going back and completing row 22. This is actually more rows than required for Skipper who is taller. I can only suspect it has to do with smaller hook size.

I had slightly better luck with the overskirt counting the total number of stitches required and splitting them for the row placing half on either side of middle stich in front row. It still required a little fudging to get it to work but not the complete redo I did for Skipper's. Hopefully by the time I make this for Chelsea I'll have mastered the math.

Stacie Critter Empire Dress

I've been having so much fun adapting patterns to fit Chelsea and Stacie. This one Calico Critters pattern has outfited 3 different donation dolls and I couldn't be happier. You can purchase the Calico Critters pattern here.

Notes:

I used a size 1.8mm hook and size 10 thread for this project.

In order to get this to fit the larger doll I continued with row 6 until the outfit reached Stacie's knees. I then finished rows 7-8.

I finished the back and neck before adding a snap to close. I also chose to finish the arm holes. I find this makes the hands less likely to snag.

Stacie Summer Dress

I've been adapting some of Petite Creative Designs American Girl Mini patterns for Chelsea. Some of them with a little additional work will also work for Stacie.

Notes:

I used size 10 crochet thread and a 1.25mm hook for this project.

The project starts with the skirt and I needed to add 7 rows of row 5 to get this to be long enough for Stacie. I then finished it as written before continuing to the bodice.

For the bodice I had to repeat row 2 6 times to get the length I needed.

I changed the chains to 6 and I would continue this for future Chelsea projects as the pattern as written makes it too big.

Doing this I didn't reduce as much. I did row 4 without reductions and added a trim row where I did a few decreases to tighten the fit just a little.

I chose not to include the hat for Stacie.

Stacie Block Dress and Hat

While I've had luck finding patterns for Chelsea, patterns for Stacie are much rarer. This is the same Petite Creative Designs Dress I made for Chelsea last week but this time I followed the original directions more closely for thread size and hook.

You can purchase the pattern here. As I mentioned in the Chelsea post regarding this pattern this is actually a pattern for the Mini American Girl Doll but it seems to work for both Chelsea and Stacie with some adaptations.

Project Notes:

I used size 10 crochet thread and a 1.8mm thread hook. This is actually really close to the original directions which call for size 10 crochet thread and a 1.75mm hook. I've never seen a Mini American Girl Doll so I have no idea how close this is to the actual sizing of the Mini vs the Chelsea and Stacie dolls.

I did seven rows of the dress pattern to get the length I wanted for Stacie. As with Chelsea I didn't change the final row to add an additional stitch to each section.

I also followed the same process for making the arms. I chained 1 and skipped 10 stitches for each arm hole following the rest of the directions for the arm hole row. It requires one to fudge the stitches to get the count right but it works. I did a sc around the arm holes to finish them and keep the hands from getting caught in the stitches.

I did finishing rows for the back and top but didn't need decreases as I did with the Chelsea doll.

The dress is closed with a snap not ties.

Stacie's hair is less accomadating than Chelsea's so I have to make a hole in hats for the pony tail to fit through the hat. I left the last seven stitches unworked in row 3 chained 7 and joined. I continued the rest of the hat as written crocheting into chain stitches as if the stitches had been completed on previous round.

I didn't attempt the shoes for Stacie.

Not sure which brand of size 10 thread this is as the wrapper is long gone but I'm pretty sure it is not Aunt Lydia.
