Hello Kitty Witch

This is an adaptation of Armina Ami Nal's Hello Kitty Witch pattern. I started the dress at the open instead of the closed end. I experimented with fingering yarn instead of worsted weight yarn for the clothes. This witch also has a cloak.

The one challenge with finger weight yarn I found with both the Santa and the Witch is it doesn't hold the shape for the hats the way the worsted weight does. It has a lighter look to it for the dresses, but it sags a bit when making the hats. It's something to consider for future projects.

Hello Kitty Santa

When my ami swap partern requested Hello Kitty I decided to do a holiday themed swap. She requested a pink one and I made that one first. Then I decided to make as many holiday ones as I could in the time I had. As with the other Hello Kitties, I started with Armina Ami Nal's Hello Kitty Witch pattern.

I had made a Santa before, but this time I decided to use up some fingering weight yarn I have had for a while. It was fun to experiment with a different look.

Hello Kitty Easter

Happy Easter everyone. I know many of us are celebrating Good Friday, but I rarely post on the weekends and wanted to get an Easter greeting in before the weekend.

I was so hopeful I'd get all my holiday Hello Kitties posted that I made for the Crochetville ami swap, but my allergies kicked in this week settling in my eyes. It made writing challenging. I did get some crocheting done, though.

Like the Hello Kitty I posted earlier this week, this Easter version is adapted from Armina Ami Nal's Hello Kitty Witch pattern. The basket is a Barbie Easter basket and you can find the free pattern link here. The hat is adapted from an Annie's Fashion Club Cotillion Hoop Gown, an out of print pattern.

Hello Kitty

I participated in the ami swap at Crochetville and my partner wanted a Hello Kitty. I have never been a huge fan of Hello Kitty, but I have had a couple family members who are and I found Armina Ami Nal's patterns, which I love. My favorite is her Hello Kitty Witch. The basic Hello Kitty pattern is easy to follow and you can adapt the dress pattern as you wish.

In an effort to play with the dresses, I've changed two things. One, I'm working with lighter weight yarns. This provides me with a little more ability to add details and change the dresses. Do to the shortness of the toy the changes are still limited. Two, I've started working from the opened end instead of the closed end to add my clothing. The original pattern closes the opened end and then works the dress pattern into the stitches at the top. I experimented with doing the opposite this time and liked the results.

I made four kitties for the swap, which I will be posting this week. This one was in pink at the request of my swap partner. The rest are holiday themed.
