Easter Duck with Overalls

I meant to get this project posted several weeks ago. Then I got distracted with a jungle mat project that I hope to be writing about soon. This is the second project I made from Crochet Village's Easter Bunnies and Duckies for next Easter. I have a healthy start on next year's Easter toys. This is a great pattern if you are looking for quick fun toys for Easter.

I hope to find time to blog about the jungle pattern soon. The basic pattern is free from Joann's. I am supplementing the pattern with animals from A Zoo For You (Leisure Arts #5152) that I had purchased previously. The animals are a good size fit for the free pattern. I need to finish this project for a June birthday. However, I have some 18" doll projects that need to be finished for a May birthday. Sometimes it is hard to work on what is due instead of what you are most interested in making.

Easter Eggs

I've been working on dishcloths using up some of my cotton stash. In order to finish up the ends of the cotton I have been making some Easter Eggs to put away for next year's Easter box. The dishcloths put me on the postive side after getting yarn in the ami swap last week. I am still working on the Stashbusting CAL at Crochetville. I am finally starting to see some progress.

The pattern is easy and it comes from Amigurumi World: Seriously Cute Crochet and it is a great way to use up scraps. There are lots of free patterns out there too.

Easter Bunny in Overalls

After Easter, I was still in the mood to make some Easter projects. I like having the chance to get some made in advance and stored for next year. I did not have a chance to get to Crochet Village's Easter Bunnies and Duckies before my Easter box went out. So, it seemed like a good project to tackle.

I love the overalls. I am working on the Ducky who is also going to be wearing overalls. He should be finished soon. After that, I have a couple of birthday projects I need to focus on so it is time to move on from my Easter projects for a while.

My Ami Swap Package Arrived

I have been posting pictures of the ami's I sent for the Crochetville Ami swap, but my package arrived and it was wonderful. I love holiday ami's, but I am generally too busy making them to send to get any finished for our house. When I have the chance to request one, I always ask for holiday themed ones. The only holiday I exclude is Christmas. I have inherited and acquired so much Christmas stuff that I am actually reaching the point I may need to decrease. I want the ami's to get the maximum attention. This witch will have a prominent place in my Halloween decorations.

My partner also sent some wonderful extras. She sent two beautiful dishcloths. I got a bag of buttons for my doll making. A box of cinnamon stick tea and three bags of flavored cocoa were a great added bonus. My dish cloth cotton is running low so I was thrilled with the 4 skeins of crochet cotton. I also received a pattern holder and three crochet leaflets. She sent Fashion Doll Tooth Fairies, Annie's Ultimate Book of Pot Holders, Old Timey Scrap Afghans.

The Easter Bunny Brought Crochet Patterns

I love that the Easter Bunny knows I crochet. It’s wonderful he knows about online patterns and downloading them to leave in my Easter basket. He even seems to know which patterns are on my wish list.

This year the Easter Bunny brought the Animal Amigurumi to Crochet and he is such an amazing bunny that he even printed the corrections and slid them inside the book.

Like Santa the Easter Bunny knows I love to make the AG/18" doll clothes so he swung by Maggie's crochet and picked up some doll's clothes and some toy patterns for me. I got Betty the Barbeque Chef and Winter Fun for the 18" dolls. I love the make your own snowman. I have been eyeing that pattern for a while now. I wonder who told the bunny.

While at Maggie's the bunny picked up some toy patterns. I got the new Cinderella Flip Doll pattern. I also got two activity sets: Cooking Katie and Handy Andy.

I send a big thank you to the Easter Bunny. He is keeping me plenty busy with projects for relatives and my Christmas donations.

Hello Kitty Witch

This is an adaptation of Armina Ami Nal's Hello Kitty Witch pattern. I started the dress at the open instead of the closed end. I experimented with fingering yarn instead of worsted weight yarn for the clothes. This witch also has a cloak.

The one challenge with finger weight yarn I found with both the Santa and the Witch is it doesn't hold the shape for the hats the way the worsted weight does. It has a lighter look to it for the dresses, but it sags a bit when making the hats. It's something to consider for future projects.

Bunny Avenger Hulk

I finished Bunny Fury a while back and right before Easter completed Bunny Hulk from the Sweet 'N Cute's Bunny Avengers set. While the pictures on the pattern do not show it, this bunny is considerably larger than the rest of the set. Considering he is the Hulk, it makes sense. However, if size is a consideration for storage, display, or play space, you might want to use a smaller hook or a lighter weight yarn.

I was fine with the size, just surprised. I went back and compared the stitches to Bunny Fury and there is a considerable difference. For some of the gifts I make, keeping the ami's small for storage is important. So if I made this set for that group, I'd try to downsize the Hulk. However, for this present he worked out fine.

He also made a great stash busting project. This was all yarn I had from my stash and it helped me work on my stash busting totals for last week.

I still need to complete Captain America, Thor, and Iron Bunny. I believe Iron Bunny will be the next one I tackle although I have several other projects in the works. I'm still in an Easter frame of mind so I am working on some projects for next year. I'm also finishing up an American Girl doll thread dress for a May birthday. I have one more Hello Kitty to post from my Ami Swap, too.

Hello Kitty Santa

When my ami swap partern requested Hello Kitty I decided to do a holiday themed swap. She requested a pink one and I made that one first. Then I decided to make as many holiday ones as I could in the time I had. As with the other Hello Kitties, I started with Armina Ami Nal's Hello Kitty Witch pattern.

I had made a Santa before, but this time I decided to use up some fingering weight yarn I have had for a while. It was fun to experiment with a different look.
