Football Dishcloth

I picked up Month by Month Dishcloths a while back and only recently have dived into it to make some projects. With the Super Bowl approaching the first logical project seemed to be football dishcloth located in Novemeber's section. After making this for a gift, DH's wants one too, so I will have to get one done for our house before the Super Bowl. I suspect these might actually make some fun small gifts over the next year. There are a few football fans in the family.

Just a note to myself the pattern calls for an H hook but in order to get the ties to fit I needed a g hook for the white section. These is a Premier book, but I used Sugar 'n Creme for this dishcloth as it was available locally and time was a factor in finishing this one. I may try Premier Yarn to test the color at a later time.

This book is not available directly from Amazon. However at the time of writing it was still available at JoAnn's and Knit Picks. You can check your local stores as well.

Valentine's Day Hexagon Ribbed Dishcloth

After all the cheerfulness of the Christmas decorations, I need something to replace all the color that goes away. It just seems so dreary. Therefore, I leave some of the snowmen and winter decorations out and I start sneaking in some Valentine's colors.

This pattern comes from Learn-a-Stitch Crochet Dishcloths which I bought a while ago. I don't believe it still in print, but it is likely available at places that resell crochet books.

This is one of my favorite dishcloth patterns. I like it because it works well with variegated yarns and the ribbed texture makes it useful for scrubbing. This one is made using Bernat Handicrafter cotton.

Rib Hexagon Dishcloth with Back Post Stiches

I mentioned in a previous post that I made the Rib Hexagon dishcloth from Learn-a-Stitch Crochet Dishcloths with the wrong stitches even though I had made it previously the right way.

This is the one I made using front post stitches:

There are advantages to both and I think I might continue to try both ways. The correct method creates a better scrubber, but it does not lay as flat. The front post method still cleans well, lays flatter, and I just like the look of it. Sometimes mistakes create something unique.

Dishcloth with Front Post instead of Back Post Stitches

I needed an easy project to take to the doctor's office last week. I have been working on ami's, but I wanted something where I could follow the pattern based on the shape and not have to worry too much about the number of rows. I had made the Rib Hexagon from Learn-a-Stitch Crochet Dishcloths a few times before so it seemed like the ideal choice. One of the required stitches for the pattern is a back post double crochet. I have no idea where my mind was, but while sitting in the waiting room instead of making bpdc I made front post double crochets. I actually like the look. It gives it a slightly different cleaning quality. I am working one with the bpdc now and I will post the two together to show how the pattern changes, but is still functional.
